PUBLICATIONS

It our desire is to see more and more works from other languages translated and published in the Italian langauge. Many of our brethren who work with existing publishing groups do a fine job of translating and publishing a pletheroa of titles that are of use in Italian churches. Wherever possible, we prefer to work with these existing publishers. On occassions and for various reasons, however, there may be titles that we publish under the local church name.

Our first translation and publication: Christianity and Liberalism, by J. Gresham Machen.

Why this book first? The book was referenced at a conference. it was suggested thereafter that we translate and publish this book in Italian. It is as relevant today as it was almost 100 years ago, when it was first published. There are several books that could have been chosen to publish first, but we decided "to strike while the iron is hot." Furthermore, the effects of liberalism are as real and evident today as they were in the past century, regardless of church type or affiliation.

"Here is found the most fundamental difference between liberalism and Christianity–liberalism is altogether in the imperative mood, while Christianity begins with a triumphant indicative; liberalism appeals to man’s will, while Christianity announces, first, a gracious act of God.”

"The great redemptive religion which has always been known as Christianity is battling against a totally diverse type of religious belief, which is only the more destructive of the Christian faith because it makes use of traditional Christian terminology."

Chapters includes the following subjects:

"Only, let us not try to do without the Spirit of God. The fundamental fault of the modern Church is that she is busily engaged in an absolutely impossible task--she is busily engaged in calling the righteous to repentance. Modern preachers are trying to bring men into the Church without requiring them to relinquish their pride; they are trying to help men avoid the conviction of sin."

This is an important work because the pervasive effects of Liberalism are still present with us today. In Italy, as in the U.S., it can be seen in churches and groups, where theological language and precision may be diluted and confused.

The Italian publisher, Alfa e Omega, has agreed to take up this project. They have already procured copyright permission from the original publisher and are ready to complete work once funds are collected. Dr. Carl Trueman will write the preface for the Italian edition.

The book will be available to evangelicals throughout Italy through Alfa e Omega.
